Education and Work History
- David Richey graduated from Ossian High School in Ossian, IN in 1965 (10 miles south of Fort Wayne).
- He attended Indiana University-Bloomington from January 1967 through December 1971. David received a Bachelor of Science degree from the School of Education in Business Education Office Management.
- David's first job was with First Federal Savings in Loan of Indianapolis. It later became 1st Indiana. He started out as a mortgage loan originator.
- In June 1974, David went to work at Mercantile Mortgage as a loan originator.
- In June 1975, he went to work at Anderson Federal Savings and Loan as the Vice President of Mortgage Lending.
- In May 1983, David went to work at American Fletcher Mortgage as a mortgage loan originator where he began working with his First Republic Partners, Kent Day and Mike Osterling. American Fletcher merged with Bank one. David spent the last three years at Bank One as a Project Manager. His first project was to consolidate 104 sites where loans were being process into 24 Regional Processing Centers located in 24 cities through out the United States. Once that project was completed, David then went back and consolidated the 24 locations into four centers. The next project at Bank One was to create and develop a proprietary loan origination system.
- In March 1996, David left Bank One and formed First Republic Mortgage with Kent Day and Mike Osterling. They started in the basement of a local builder's
headquarters, Hansen and Horn. They had five people originating and closing loans.
- Today, First Republic has close to 60 employees and has offices in multiple locations through out Indiana.....Indianapolis, Fort Wayne, Muncie, Marion, Kokomo, Terre Haute, Greenwood, Columbia City to name a few.
Personal Information
In 1971, while at college, David met his wife, Patricia Paton. Pat is from Montreal when here mother and sisters still reside. They have two grown daughters. Claire, who married Richard Creedmore, has no children and live in the greater Cincinnati area. Daughter number two married Mathew Benson and they have two children, Lucas and Liam. They leave nearby in Fishers, Indiana.
David and Pat are the primary baby sitters for Lucas and Liam. A lot of their time is spent around their activities.
They have lived in the Fishers area since 1971 and have seen the population grow from 1,800 people to about 50,000 people.
David also enjoys gardening and vintage automobiles. He has a 1955 Studebaker President Two door Hardtop that he restored into show condition along with a 1977 Avanti.
David and Pat also enjoy traveling. They go to Montreal twice a year. Once in the summer and once at Christmas, but have taken several ship cruses. They have been to Alaska, Hawaii, through the Panama Canal, and several locations in the Caribbean. David and Pat have visited Scotland, Germany, Austria, and soon Ireland. They probably have been in every major city in the United States and Canada.
David and Pat also are active in their church, Fishers United Methodist Church, where they have been members for over 30 years.
David has several quotes in his office that he reads almost everyday. They help guide him though my life's journey.
